DVoB have been playing and recording in various lineups since 1996, focusing their energy on deploying their music and beliefs to the wider world via the 'net. They have sold records, enjoyed airplay, and received reviews positive and negative in many parts of the world. DVoB have always written with an eye to social, political and environmental issues, but the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the "declaration" of the so-called War Against Terror (TWAT!) greatly exacerbated that tendency.

DVoB's sound has moved from a neo- romantic goth influenced hard rock toward a post Midnight Oil interpretation of politicised punk - in other words, the amps are bigger, the drums get hit harder, the drummer bathes less, and the bass has 3 new strings. DVoB are often loud, occasionally profane, and always passionate. As their motto says: Hunger. Possess. Destroy. Welcome to Human Nature. The Dark Violence of Beauty.

"Fans of Wolfmother looking for something harder get ready – this is power trio gold. One of the best things I’ve heard all year by a long shot.” – BMA Album of the Month Dec 2006

Looking Glass have been playing shows since 2000. Guitars make up a great deal of the Looking Glass sound, with both guitar and bass solos being a primary ingredient in the live show. To think of similarities with other groups brings one down the vein of early 70’s sounding English rock bands. The influence from bands like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin can be heard at times, with Looking Glass’s own ‘uber loud’ sound having been compared with ‘stoner rock’ bands such as Kyuss or Cathedral. Music to drink beer to. Live performances alongside The Fumes, Cog, Unpaid Debt, Airborne, Nunchukka Superfly, Fort have seen the band stand up to, if not get a warmer response than, the headlining act. They have received recent airplay on TripleJ with the track ‘Levitate’, which is off the E.P., the same track also peaking at number 26 on the Unearthed Overall Charts.

In April 2006 having just left the stage at the National Folk Festival, Quagmire peeped around the corner to see a crowd of 60 people in line to purchase their CD. It was then they knew for sure that they were on to something really good…

Quagmire is an acoustic 4-piece known for their intricate three-part vocal harmonies, melodic guitar arrangements and percussive rhythms. Influences range from styles as diverse as funk, country music and flamenco with inflections of jazz. With a “seamless blend of melodic ideas, delicate vocals and laid back rhythms”. They have performed live on ABC 666 radio, played at two National Folk Festivals, taken stage at Glebe Park for Australia Day and shared the bill with Alex Lloyd and Something for Kate in a Canberra Day performance on Stage 88. Often likened to a contemporary Crosby, Stills and Nash, fans of The Eagles or even Maroon 5 unplugged will find a familiar appeal in Quagmire’s music.

The Super Best Friends’ bio for Indyfest 06 was so witty; they don’t think they’ll be able to write a better one. But, the point is Super Best Friends is playing at Indyfest 07! It’s an institution baby! (Eddie Vedder accent) Three likely lads with nothing better do than play music. Well, they could sit at home and watch Digital Versatile Discs, but no-one is that lucky. By putting some drums, guitar and bass frequencies into a blender, some semi-audible music comes out and one or two people like them... in Bungendore.

Their claim to fame: "We once played with a band from America!"

Inflatable Ingrid started as a college band in '04, playing punky heavy rock. After a dozen line-up changes over a few years, they are now locked, loaded and more anatomically incorrect than ever, ready to rock your socks off while magically leaving your shoes on. They've played the Battle of the Bands Winners' Showcase at ANU. A heckler put Paulie (vox) in a headlock during a song. Look out for the band's first EP in a month or so!

The morning after the grade 12 formal, still tipsy and without sleep, singer/guitarist Julia and bass-player Yo staggered into Copland College's studio to record some songs before time ran out on their student login numbers. And so, with a couple of Julia's originals on CD, they ventured forth, playing regularly for the last 2 years in many of Canberra's pubs and bars. During this time Julia went through drummers at the same rate as Spinal Tap, also gaining an electric guitarist (Lindsey) and new bass player (Smitty). They have played in most Canberra venues, also featuring in National Youthweek2006, the grand opening of the new headquarters for radio station 2XXFM, the National Multicultural Fringe Festival 2006 and The National Film and Sound Archives for the 'Insatiable Banalities' live 50th pod cast to celebrate the internet radio show's inclusion in the archives.
